ルワンダ回想録㉔竹内緑さんを囲む会
管理人 ルワンダには、現地に根差した本当に地道な素晴らしい活動をされている方々がたくさんいます。
メディアに出る方も出ない方も含め、その形は企業や団体や様々です。
同じ日本人として、それぞれのご活躍に出逢って心からの尊敬と影ながらのエールと、そして時にアドバイスを求めたり励ましあったり。
私自身の活動を頑張って継続していきたい、と思っていられるのは、勇気づけられるそんな方々との出逢いや励ましがあったからです。
現地に住んでいた時、粛々と自分の役割をまっとうされている方達をルワンダ在住の日本人コミュニティに知っていただきたいと思って、集まりを主催していたことがありました。 その中のお一人をお呼びした会の日記です。
今回も緑さんのところへ訪問してきます。 2018年1月10日 照子さんを囲む会に続いて、12月12日には竹内緑さんを囲む会を開催しました。
半分ほどはメンバーが入れ替わってでしたが、今回も十数名ご参加くださいました。 ほとんどの方がランチまで残って交流ができたことも感謝でした。
竹内緑さんは、看護師で長年国際NGOに所属して紛争地域で活動されていました。

その後、Food for the Hungryという国際NGOを退職され、ご自分の負われたトラウマを癒す意味でもアメリカの大学院で学びを続けられたのちにルワンダでトラウマを負った方を癒す働きを 始められました。
肉体的・精神的にアプローチを試み長い時間をかけて寄り添う支援は、寄り添う者自身にも大きな負担となります。
それでも根気よく関わり、その結果として受益者に変化がみられる ようになっていくことを喜びとし常に笑顔で丁寧に活動される姿は、日本のマザーテレサだと私は感じています。
私たち家族のこともいつも気にかけてくださっていて時には若者を交え、ときには二人で交流させていただいています。
支援の在り方、受益者との関わり方などに於いて彼女からもまた 学ぶことが多く尊敬する女性です。
一言では表現できませんが、彼女のこともぜひ多くの方に知って頂きたくいつもは日本で活動報告をされている緑さんに初のアフリカでの活動報告をしていただきました。 私自身も有意義な時間となった交流会でした。
After gathering of Teruko, I held the casual meeting again for Midori Takeuchi this time. Almost half of the member from last time has changed, though there were fourteen people and enjoyed through lunch.
She was used to belong international NGO called Food for the Hungry, used to work in the conflict areas like Angola and Somalia. In1994, she came in to refugee camp. Since then she started to work in Rwanda.
After that she quitted working for the organization and finished further study in a graduate school including as time for healing herself. Then, started to build up her own activity.
The way of her support is physically, mentally, and spiritually (Christianism) staying together with people who traumatize, giving them counseling through local staffs. I imagine how Midori herself is also devoting her life. I believe to stay together with suffering people is hardship for Midori, however her stance of keeping herself up and feeling pleasure when she found progress in life of beneficiaries. I could say she is a lady like Japanese Mother Theresa. She also cares my Christian life, supports youth with serving Japanese food and sharing valuable time together sometimes. I always learn how support supposed to be, how to deal with beneficiaries, and how to pray.
I cannot express her in a word, but wanted to introduce her as well. That was the presentation from Midori held in Africa for the first time, and was a very good gathering. Thank you Midorisan and thank you Miosan who supported for venue this time.
